Germany to Deliver Skynex Air Defense Systems to Ukraine
Rheinmetall's X-TAR3D to Bolster Ukrainian Defenses
Precise and Autonomous Protection Against Aerial Threats
In a significant move to strengthen Ukraine's defenses, Germany has announced a contract with Rheinmetall AG to deliver two Skynex air defense systems at a cost of 182 million euros (192 million dollars). The cutting-edge X-TAR3D system, developed by Rheinmetall, is designed to effectively counter a range of threats, including fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, moving and hovering unmanned aerial systems (UAS), and drones.
The highly mobile Skynex system features a 35mm air defense gun integrated with an advanced radar tracker and electro-optical sensor unit. This enables the system to locate, track, and engage hostile targets with precision and autonomy. The truck-mounted design allows for rapid deployment and flexibility in responding to evolving threats across the battlefield.
