Ford Issues Urgent Stop-Drive Warning for Vehicles with Takata Airbags
Recalled Vehicles pose Serious Safety Risk, Owners Urged to Comply
Ford has issued a do-not-drive warning for over 750,000 vehicles involved in three previous safety recalls related to defective Takata airbags. These recalls affect certain Ford Ranger, Fusion, and Lincoln MKZ models from 2018 to 2022.
The affected vehicles have been recalled since 2020 due to a potentially fatal defect in the Takata airbag inflators. These inflators can rupture and send shrapnel into the passenger compartment during an accident, posing a grave safety hazard.
Ford has confirmed that it has received reports of two more ruptures in these specific vehicles, prompting the escalation of the recall to a do-not-drive advisory. The company urges all owners of affected vehicles to immediately stop driving them and contact their local Ford dealer to schedule a free repair.
Ford has emphasized the urgency of this situation, stating that driving these vehicles with unrepaired airbags poses an imminent safety risk. The company is working diligently to obtain replacement parts and complete the repairs as quickly as possible.
